Yes, even worn out snowboards fall into our waste stream. But there’s so much potential for life after death! I like to disassemble the snowboard and look at it for it’s furniture building material. The design does take it far out of the context of the traditional snowboard form, but it still has key visual ques to let you see it’s whole history of shredding.

This awesome little night stand was made from recycled Burton Snowboards (A Burton Seven and Custom). Hand made by me in Southeast Portland, OR. It stands 24.5″ tall with a top that’s 10″x10″. Great as a bedside table or plant stand.

    I believe firmly in taking unique materials and rebuilding them ("upcycling", if you will) into something better. Take a look at the recycled skateboard furniture and freakbikes and see for yourself. They're all hand crafted in Portland, Oregon, and are pretty awesome.
