Fire tools

One of the perks of my shop is getting to try out different avenues for things I can make. Take for example these fire fans and torches I just welded up for some Portland fire performers.

I’m big in Denver.

J Ryde Visuals was written up in Denver! Oh Snap! It’s a good writeup too, though I will contend that my Furniture is far from uncomfortable. But “Ryde or Die” indeed!

Get your piece of the pie over on my Etsy site before I totally sell out (those silly holidays are coming…)

Thrillist PDX

Special thanks to ThrillistPDX for this awesome little article. It was great to have them by the studio the other day and have the opportunity to talk about some late n’ great furniture projects.

Featured on Bike Portland!

Thanks to BikePortland for the excellent writeup on my latest project: The Photobike. You can read more about it here.

A Photobike is born

I was fortunate to have Jonathan with BikePortland.org by the studio today to talk about Dabe Alan‘s new “Photobike” I just finished. Get a sneak peek at the photos here! What an amazing process it’s been. Designing and building every part of this bike to meet with Dabe’s needs. I’m kind of sad to have it leave my studio and head out in the world. But I expect more great things to come from it.

Custom Sidecar sidehack tallbike

Tallbike with a sidehack. The Epic Bike.

Just a little teaser of something I’ve been working on in the shop and mentioned a while back. Something special for Dabe Alan Photography. This is the bike just back from the powder coaters. More photos of the final build coming soon.

Freakbike Sidehack Tallbike

Fashionable. Who, me?

I received an excellent bit of email this morning from Ohio. Attached was this rather fetching photo:
J Ryde Visuals 45mm weapon earrings

I love getting fan mail! Especially when it looks so darn good. (seriously, who wouldn’t?)  Glad to see the earrings I made found a nice home.

At the time of this posting there are still a few left! Better get some.

Skateboard Coat Hook

I feel like I’ve done well to cover the bases of building things to “set things on” around the home. Tables? Chairs? I’ve got all that. These coat hooks were made to explore uses for the smaller scraps of skateboard that I have left over after a project.  And wheels. They’re great for drawer pulls, but clearly their uses don’t end there.

So I designed this sweet solution to the “hanging” problem. Made entirely with recycled/reclaimed materials it can be mounted either direction and holds hats, keys and outerwear. Small, kinda cute, and awfully versatile.

There are several presently available for purchase in my Etsy Store. Take a look. Purchasers can pick up several and alternate mounting positions for style.

Newer! Better! More(er)!

I’ve just listed several new stunning pieces of recycled skateboard and street sign furniture on my Etsy Store. I encourage you to take a look!

I also was just written up in the Stop Shop Fashion Blog for some earrings I designed. Yes… I made earrings.

And in one more exciting piece of news I have a sculpture submission that will be appearing in the Ripple PDX art show and auction this Thursday, October 6th, at KEEN Headquarters (NW 13th and Lovejoy in Portland) from 6-10 PM.  Bring a friend or lover by and enjoy the stunning work on display.  More info at www.ripplepdx.com and on Facebook.

Recycled Snowboard Table

recycled snowboard bedside tableFresh outta the shop! This sweet recycled snowboard bedside table. It’s the first of two “matching” tables. Made from one and a half Burton snowboards. It stands 24″ tall with a 10″x10″ top. Not a bad place to be if your a broken Burton Seven or Burton Custom snowboard.

Look for it on my Etsy Store soon.
