Outside of my furniture construction, most of my experience has been with 2D art and design. There have been projects along the way, like the infamous "Street Sign Backpack" for example, which have taken me into the world of 3D art and wearable sculpture. This interest really began when I was making duct tape wallets and handbags back in high school. It has since developed into greater applications within the last few years.
Some of the projects featured on this page, and others, are part of much larger works. The Street Sign Purse is just one piece out of a full line of handbags and DJ bags I'm producing. The Illuminated Briefcase was part of a much larger sculpture created alongside a fellow artist Matt Hornland. Many of the other pieces stand as one-of-a-kind art objects (some more functional than others) like the chopstick shrine (made entirely out of chopsticks) and the solid bronze cast belt buckle.
On a side note, some of my digital photography is currently featured in the 2003 and 2004 issues of the Licton Springs Review.
